Room Guidelines

Keeping rooms comfortable for everyone.

alone together is a place to share space with others at your own pace. These guidelines apply to every room, now and as the community grows.

Be here your way

  • Chat, ask a quick question, or get on with your own thing. All of it is welcome.
  • Cameras and microphones are optional.
  • You can leave whenever you like, no explanation needed.

Respect boundaries

  • Don't pressure anyone to share personal information, swap contact details, message privately, or keep talking outside the room.
  • If someone isn't up for chatting, let them be.
  • Use the name you're comfortable with, and don't pretend to be someone else.

Be kind and respectful

  • No harassment, hate speech, threats, or bullying.
  • No sexual comments, sexual content, or unwanted advances.
  • Don't show disturbing, violent, or illegal content.
  • No selling, recruiting, or promoting products or services.

Privacy

  • Recording, screenshots, and streaming of rooms are not allowed, and we don't record rooms.
  • Don't share other participants' names, images, or personal details outside the room.
  • We can't guarantee complete privacy, since someone could break these rules. Share only what you're comfortable sharing.

Hosts

Hosts open rooms, let guests in, and keep the space welcoming. They can mute microphones, turn off cameras, remove participants, or end a room early. Hosts aren't therapists, security staff, or emergency responders.

Reporting a problem

  • During a room, you can tell the host or simply leave.
  • Afterward, you can report anything privately by emailing hello@alonetogethernetwork.com or through our Contact page. You never have to raise it in front of other guests.
  • We review reports and take appropriate action, which may include restricting access to future rooms.

Who can join

Rooms are for adults 18 and over.

Our first rooms

Early rooms are about 30 minutes, with up to three guests plus a host. Join from your browser with just a name, no account or app needed. Rooms are locked: knock, and the host lets you in at the start time.
